How do I convert a Word document with hyperlinks

I want to convert a “Word” document into a ‘pdf’ file, with hyperlinks. I produced a document in Word and converted it but the links disappeared so it seems that they have to be put in after conversion. I can’t afford Adobe Acrobat as I’ve seen prices on the Internet and the cheapest was almost $400 – there would be no sense in me buying the software as I’ve only got a few documents that I want to convert with these hyperlinks and they’re only for my hobby – not business. I hope I’ve explained the situation okay and I’d be grateful if anyone could come up with a cheap idea, please! I’ve got various small, cheap ‘pdf’ conversion programs but they won’t do it. I’m using Windows XP and Office 2007, by the way.
